Abstract
The Na+/K+-ATPase, molecular target of drugs known as cardiac glycosides, has an important role in the cellular physiology as well as in cardiovascular therapeutics. Nevertheless, for a better understanding of these aspects, a deeper knowledge of what really is the Na+/K+-ATPase is necessary. This article has the objective to describe structural, regulatory and pathophysiological characteristics of the enzyme isoforms.
