Resumen
Con el propósito de determinar si existe riesgo de enfermedad cardiovascular (ECV) por la presencia de anticuerpos contra Chlamydophila en población mexicana, se determinaron anticuerpos en suero contra esta bacteria mediante microinmunofluorescencia (MIF) en 70 pacientes hospitalizados, mayores de 30 años, de ambos sexos, con diagnóstico de ECV. Los pacientes se parearon por edad y sexo con dos individuos sanos y sin riesgo de ECV. Los estadígrafos para la población testigo fueron: media geométrica (xg), 32.38 ± 8.48; s = 4.24; IC 95%, 23.9 - 41.28. Y para la población de pacientes: xg, 87.36 ± 6.48; s = 3.24; IC 95%, 80.88 - 93.85. Se observó en los pacientes hombres tendencia a títulos de anticuerpos más altos que en las mujeres. Al estimar de manera indirecta el riesgo relativo mediante la razón de momios (odds ratio, OR), se encontró que el riesgo era mayor en hombres (36.3 vs. 19.7) y que se incrementa con la edad. Esta fuerza de asociación es mayor en los hombres conforme aumenta su edad. Fue de interés observar que la asociación es más fuerte conforme la gravedad de la ECV se incrementa; en efecto, la OR fue de 16.1 para angor, de 30.5 para cardiopatía isquémica y de 49.1 para el infarto agudo al miocardio.
