Abstract
The objective of this study (quantitative, transversal and exploratory) was to analyze the behavioral manifestations of children diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and family functionality according to the caregiver responsible of the child. 33 caregivers of children diagnosed with ADD took part of this study. The children were students of 3 schools from Ñuble (N = 33). The instruments used were; the Conners' Parenting Rating Scale in order to determine which are the most frequent behavioral manifestations in students diagnosed with Attentional Deficit, and the family APGAR to assess family functionality according to what was reported by the caregivers of the diagnosed children. The results showed that there was no relation between the assessments of the Conners' Rating Scales and the APGAR (p = 0.688), as well as no relation between the Conners' Scale and the gender of the child (p = 0.465). Nonetheless, among the main obtained findings are behavioral manifestations with values of much restlessness with a 35.3%, considerable and easy distractibility with 88.2%, and much difficulty to finish what they started with a 41.2%. When assessing family functionality of the caregivers of the diagnosed children, generality is defined in "very functional families". It is important to notice that most of the caregivers are females, represented by mothers between 32 to 44 years of age. In addition, boys presented more frequently this disorder than girls. The combined ADHD was the most frequent type, which presents symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity.
