HELICOBACTER PYLORI INFECTION IN INDIA FROM A WESTERN PERSPECTIVE

Helicobacter pylori is an important human pathogen. Physicians in developing countries face several challenges in both diagnosis and treatment including costs, availability, treatment success rates and increased recurrence after therapy. We review the clinical consequences of infection, rationale for eradication, resistance patterns and treatment strategies in India.

Infección por Helicobacter pylori en la India desde la Perspectiva Occidental

Helicobacter pylori es un importante patógeno para los seres humanos. Los profesionales de los países en vías de desarrollo enfrentan numerosos desafíos diagnósticos y terapéuticos, en términos de los costos, la disponibilidad, los índices de tratamiento exitoso y la posible recurrencia luego de la terapia. Se revisan las consecuencias de la infección, los motivos para la erradicación, los patrones de resistencia y las estrategias terapéuticas en la India.
