Cell Communication and Adhesion
BB SIIC. Ingreso: 2008-
Editor: Cecilia Lo
Cell Communication and Adhesion provides a central forum for the rapid publication of full-length manuscripts, short communications, reviews and conference reports of high quality, covering all aspects of receptor-based cell recognition and signaling. This includes research directed toward an understanding of the molecular basis of cell behavior as influenced by the interaction of cells with one another and with the extracellular environment, including extracellular matrix, cytokines and chemotactic factors. This journal provides a single source of information concerning all forms of intercellular communication, intercellular junctions and families of adhesion receptors and counter receptors from diverse biological systems.
Manuscripts will be accepted describing the role of intercellular signaling, junctions and adhesion pathways in pathological and normal processes, ranging from fundamental interactions in developing systems to immune- based recognition events and neuronal targeting. Research documenting the effect of the cell surface environment including lipids, carbohydrates and associated proteins on receptor function is also suitable for the journal. Manuscripts should be consistent with the goal of providing the reader with a central source of high quality information required for molding new ideas and concepts related to cell communication and contact will be deemed appropriate. This includes work on signaling pathways and molecular aspects of gene regulation related to cell communication. The submission of manuscripts dealing with research of a biological and descriptive nature, as well as work having to do with the relationship of molecular structure and function, is also encouraged.

BB SIIC. Ingreso: 2006-
Editor: Gerrit Meijer
Cellular Oncology publishes scientific contributions from various biomedical and clinical disciplines involved in basic and translational cancer research on the cell and tissue level, technical and bioinformatics developments in this area, and clinical applications. This includes a variety of fields like genome technology, micro-arrays and other high-throughput techniques, genomic instability, SNP, DNA methylation, signaling pathways, DNA organization, (sub)microscopic imaging, proteomics, bioinformatics, functional effects of genomics, drug design and development, molecular diagnostics and targeted cancer therapies, genotype - phenotype interactions. A major goal is to translate the latest developments in these fields from the research laboratory into routine patient management. To this end Cellular Oncology will form a platform of scientific information exchange between molecular biologists and geneticists, technical developers, pathologists, (medical) oncologist and other clinicians involved in the management of cancer patients. All papers published in Cellular Oncology need to be of the highest quality, by showing that an important scientific question has been raised, that these questions have been addressed using well designed experiments, that conclusions have been fairly made and most importantly that a significant advance in science has been made through these enquiries. Technical papers need to be very innovative and be at the leading edge of the relevant domain. Cellular Oncology publishes original papers, rapid communications, topical reviews, technical notes, special reports and letters.

Challenge of Obesity in the WHO European Region and the Strategies for Response
BB SIIC. Ingreso: 2007-
Editor: F. Branca
In a brief, clear and easily accessible way, this summary illustrates the dynamics of the obesity epidemic and its impact on public health throughout the WHO European Region, particularly in eastern countries. It describes how factors that increase the risk of obesity are shaped in different settings, such as the family, school, community and workplace. It makes both ethical and economic arguments for accelerating action against obesity, and analyses effective programmes and policies in different government sectors, such as education, health, agriculture and trade, urban planning and transport. The summary also describes how to design policies and programmes to prevent obesity and how to monitor progress, and calls for specific action by stakeholders: not only government sectors but also the private sector - including food manufacturers, advertisers and traders - and professional, consumers', and international and intergovernmental organizations such as the European Union
