Textos Completos Autorizados

Spinal Tuberculosis: An Exhaustive Diagnosis.

Spinal Tuberculosis: An Exhaustive Diagnosis.

Fuente:International Journal of Mycobacteriology

Extracto: Even though we have an array of investigations for diagnosing spinal TB, the best and the earliest diagnosing test was imaging plus CT-guided biopsy. The confirmation is made in the biopsy. Finding acid-fast bacteria (AFB) and NAAT tests are additional beneficial tests to supplement the diagnosis. Hence, we can conclude that sending for tests like AFB in pus, NAAT, and GeneXpert is a wastage of biological samples and delays in diagnosis.

Prevalence of HIV-related stigma manifestations and their contributing factors among people living with HIV in Sweden - a nationwide study.

Prevalence of HIV-related stigma manifestations and their contributing factors among people living with HIV in Sweden - a nationwide study.

Fuente:Bmc Public Health

Extracto: The most dominating stigma feature was anticipation of stigma. Female gender, shorter time since HIV diagnosis, feelings of hopelessness, non-sharing HIV status, and lack of available emotional HIV-related support constituted potential vulnerability factors of the four HIV-related stigma manifestations. Our findings highlight the vital necessity to support people living with HIV to increase their resilience to stigma in its different forms. Exploring associated factors of HIV-related stigma manifestations may give an indication of what circumstances may increase the risk of stigma burden and factors amenable to targeted interventions. As individual stigma-reductions interventions cannot be performed isolated from HIV-related stigma and discrimination in society, a key challenge is to intensify anti-stigma interventions also on the societal level.

Reliability and validity of the modified shuttle test-paeds to measure cardiorespiratory fitness in children.

Fuente:Bmc Pediatrics

Extracto: Paeds appears to be a reliable and valid tool for estimating cardiorespiratory fitness in typically developing children aged 6-12 years and has the advantages of being shorter, needing less space, not requiring pacing and being self-motivational. More studies are needed to assess whether children reach an aerobic steady state in three minutes and how much of the results of the Paeds test can be explained by the agility component of the task (turning and grasping or aiming a bean bag). For clinical use, psychometric properties should be studied in various patient groups (e.g., ADHD, DCD, and children with intellectual disabilities).
