DEVELOPMENT OF PHOSPHOLIPID VESICLE ENTRAPPED POLYHERBAL ANTI-DIABETIC FORMULATION
Several herbal extracts and phytoconstituents, despite having excellent bioactivity in vitro demonstrate less or no in vivo actions due to their poor lipid solubility. Phospholipids vesicles for the herbal preparations may produce better bioavailability and actions than the conventional phyto molecules or botanical extracts. In present study, we scientifically validated this hypothesis. Optimized combination (OC) of herbal extracts was encapsulated in phospholipids based vesicle system; this formulation at 500 mg/kg p.o. dose had shown significant antidiabetic effects in comparison to OC at 1 000 mg/kg p.o. in experimentally-induced diabetes.

Nuestro estudio sugiere que en los pacientes que se encuentran cursando un infarto agudo de miocardio con elevación del segmento ST y son sometidos a angioplastia primaria la presencia de hiperglucemia al ingreso hospitalario se asocia con menor flujo TIMI inicial. Además la hiperglucemia demostró ser un factor predictivo independiente de flujo TIMI < 2 en el subgrupo de pacientes con diabeticos no conocida.

Gymnema sylvestre extract (GSE) treatment significantly reduced myocyte loss by suppressing the levels of cardiac caspase-3, DNA laddering; mean arterial blood pressure and heart rate as well as serum LDH, glucose, apolipoprotein B, and lipids levels. Further, it increased the heart weight and cardiac Na+ K+ ATPase activity in diabetic rats. The present study reports the anti-apoptotic potential of GSE in STZ-induced diabetic cardiomyopathy.
