El trabajo aporta nuevas pruebas sobre los mecanismos moleculares causantes de los procesos inflamatorios de la microglía y tiene importantes consecuencias para la enfermedad de Alzheimer.

EFECTOS DEL ACTIVADOR TISULAR DEL PLASMINOGENO EN LA INFLAMACION GLIAL

En este trabajo demostramos que la proteína tPA es necesaria para los efectos proinflamatorios del péptido Aß (el mayor componente de las placas seniles en pacientes con enfermedad de Alzheimer). Además identificamos las rutas moleculares subyacentes que explican por qué tPA induce una respuesta inflamatoria en la microglía. Este estudio tiene importantes consecuencias terapéuticas en la identificación de nuevas dianas para la enfermedad de Alzheimer.
