Conocer los factores de riesgo para la hospitalización a causa de infección por virus respiratorio sincisial facilitará la adopción de medidas preventivas

FACTORES DE RIESGO PARA HOSPITALIZACION DEBIDA A INFECCION POR VIRUS RESPIRATORIO SINCISIAL

Además de otros factores bien conocidos, en este estudio destacamos que el bajo peso al nacer fue un factor de riesgo para hospitalización a causa de infección por virus respiratorio sincisial, el factor más frecuentemente detectado. No obstante, la mayor parte de los niños hospitalizados a causa de una infección por virus respiratorio sincisial no presentaron condiciones subyacentes (80%) y en muy pocos (3%) estaría indicada la inmunoprofilaxis frente al virus respiratorio sincisial.
