Vascular endothelial growth factor in ovarian serous cancers

Ovarian serous carcinomas (OSCs) express vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in about 80% of cases, although their effect on tumour proliferation was not confirmed. Though the proliferative activity in OSCs is influenced by many growth factors, VEGF increases the intratumoral micro vessel density, thereby having an indirect effect on tumour proliferation.
