El trabajo contribuye a subsanar un error de anotación del genoma de S. pneumoniae TIGR4 que implica un factor de virulencia neumocócico relevante

ESTUDIO QUE ILUSTRA LOS PROBLEMAS DE ANOTACION DEL GENOMA: LA LISOZIMA LYTC DE STREPTOCOCCUS PNEUMONIAE TIGR4

En muchos casos las predicciones de funcionalidad de genes basadas exclusivamente en el análisis por ordenador pueden conducir a errores de anotación, que pueden llegar a ser graves en aquellos casos en los que el producto génico esté implicado en funciones importantes como la virulencia neumocócica. Basándonos en pruebas fisiológicas, nosotros demostramos que, a diferencia de las predicciones realizadas, la cepa virulenta TIGR4 de Streptococcus pneumoniae sintetiza una proteína LytC activa.
