Journal of Internal Medicine
BB SIIC. Ingreso:
2002-
Edited by: Göran Holm
Journal of Internal Medicine dates its
origin back to 1863. Under the name of Acta Medica Scandinavica, founded in
1919, it has published a number of Scandinavian landmark papers throughout
the years. In 1989 the Journal was opened to international contributions and
accordingly changed the name to JIM. During the last few
years JIM has continued its modernisation with a new
cover and colour illustrations. An online manuscript-handling system was
implemented in April 2003 that has facilitated submissions and editorial
handling of articles. It has also speeded up the peer-review process and
markedly reduced the time of publication.
JIMs impact factor has been continuously rising, and is now
(2003) 3.250. The Journal is ranked No. 13 among the 102 journals grouped in
the ISI "Medicine, General and Internal" list, and on the European
Journal Quality Factor list it is No. 3 after The Lancet and British Medical
Journal.
JIM aims are to serve clinical and pre-clinical researchers
with a forum for publication of original articles concerning the broad
panorama of diseases within internal medicine. This goal is achieved by
promoting science within internal medicine as a concept of understanding
diseases in their broad, interdisciplinary contexts, from genes and
molecules to the patients in their particular environment.
JIM also encourages the publication of review articles by
internationally leading scientists covering the forefront of medical
science. We also support the publication of review articles from
international symposia which fall within the scope of the journal.
The new JIM welcomes your articles in the forefront of
clinical and experimental medicine.

There is increasing scientific and clinical interest in the interactions of
nutrition and health as part of the aging process. This interest is due to
the important role that nutrition plays throughout the life span. This role
affects the growth and development of the body during childhood, affects the
risk of acute and chronic diseases, the maintenance of physiological
processes and the biological process of aging. A major aim of "The

improvement of knowledge regarding the relationships between nutrition and
the aging process from birth to old age.

Caring for children with cancer is one of the most technically and
emotionally difficult areas in nursing. Not only are you dealing
with children and adolescents who hurt, you must reassure and educate
families, balance a multitude of other health care professionals, and
keep up with ever-changing nursing practice and care. To help special
nurses stay aware of the newest effective nursing practices, innovative
therapeutic approaches, significant information trends, and most
practical research in hematology and pediatric oncology nursing, you
need the Journal of Pediatric Oncology Nursing.
The journal offers pediatric hematology, oncology, and
immunology nurses in clinical practice and research, pediatric social
workers, epidemiologists, clinical psychologists, child life specialists
and nursing educators the latest peer-reviewed original research and
definitive reviews on the whole spectrum of nursing care of childhood
cancers, including leukemias, solid tumors and lymphomas, and
hematologic disorders. JOPON covers the entire disease
process--diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and survival, as well as
end-of-life care.
