A terapêutica com inibidores da HMG CoA reductase (estatinas) em doentes com estenose valvular aórtica moderada assintomática e dislipidemia, tratados de acordo com as recomendações do NCEP-ATP III, determina uma menor progressão da doença avaliada por ecocardiografia num seguimento de 1.5 anos.
