Textos Completos Autorizados

Medicina Reproductiva

Person-Generated Health Data in Women's Health

Person-Generated Health Data in Women's Health

Fuente:Journal of Medical Internet Research

Tipo de trabajo:Revisión

Extracto: Leading up to the COVID-19 pandemic, the adoption of digital health tools to address women's health concerns was on a steady rise. The prominence of tools related to pregnancy and the postpartum period reflects the strong focus on reproductive health in women's health research and highlights opportunities for digital technology development in other women's health topics. Digital health technology was most acceptable when it was relevant to the target audience, was seen as user-friendly, and considered women's personalization preferences while also ensuring accuracy of measurements and credibility of information. The integration of digital technologies into clinical care will continue to evolve, and factors such as liability and health care provider workload need to be considered. While acknowledging the diversity of individual needs, the use of PGHD can positively impact the self-care management of numerous women's health journeys. The COVID-19 pandemic has ushered in increased adoption and acceptance of digital health technology. This study could serve as a baseline comparison for how this field has evolved as a result. Time to first birth and its predictors among reproductive-age women in Ethiopia: multilevel analysis using shared frailty model.

Time to first birth and its predictors among reproductive-age women in Ethiopia: multilevel analysis using shared frailty model.

Fuente:Bmj Open

Extracto: In Ethiopia, women often gave birth to their first child at a younger age than what is recommended. Explicitly, women aged 20-29 and over 29, living in the northern region, leading a household as females, and belonging to the poorest or wealthiest wealth index tended to have a slightly delayed first childbirth. On the other hand, women in rural areas and those who had never used contraception were more likely to have an early first birth. The findings indicated the necessity of implementing targeted measures for rural Ethiopian women, especially those lacking knowledge about contraception.

Fuente:Plos One

Tipo de trabajo:Revisión

Extracto: Our study assessed the validity of an important indicator for ending preventable deaths: the coverage of reviews of maternal deaths occurring in facilities in three study settings. We found discrepancies in deaths recorded at facilities and those reported to districts from facilities. Further, few maternal death reviews met global quality standards for completeness. The value of the calculated indicator masked inaccuracies in counts of both deaths and reviews and gave no indication of completeness, thus undermining the ultimate utility of the measure in achieving an accurate measure of coverage.

Fuente:Plos One

Extracto: Female genital mutilation hinders women's ability to negotiate for safer sex. It is necessary to implement health education and promotion interventions (e.g., decision making skills) that assist women who have experienced female genital mutilation to negotiate for safer sex. These interventions are crucial to enhance sexual health outcomes for these women. Further, strict enforcement of policies and laws aimed at eradicating the practice of female genital mutilation are encouraged to help contribute to the improvement of women's reproductive health.
