NEONATAL OUTCOMES WITH ORAL HYPOGLYCAEMIC USE IN WOMEN WITH MODERATE HYPERGLYCAEMIA
Metformin and glibenclamide were compared in women with moderate hyperglycaemia after medical nutritional therapy in a South Indian population. Very low rates of neonatal hypoglycaemia were seen with the use of metformin. Maternal glycaemic control was similar in both groups. Thus, metformin is the preferred oral hypoglycaemic agent in gestational diabetes.
